Barcelona Legends go gorilla tracking in Bwindi

Legends of FC Barcelona of Spain started their Ugandan tour on Wednesday with a tourism visit to one of the world’s top mountain gorilla sites, the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Barcelona Legends who are on official visit to Uganda are delighted by gorilla tracking, an amazing wildlife adventure in Uganda, the Pearl of Africa.

Over 12 ex-FC Barcelona Players are on a visit to Uganda, the Pearl of Africa. Though they had visited the country for a charity match aimed at fundraising funds for an academy, the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) used this initiative to take these legends on a gorilla safari through the impenetrable jungles of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Accompanied by hikers, the legends entered the sanctuary at 8.00Am in the morning. Each armed with a hiking stick, they started their trek into the “impenetrable jungles” located in the far south western corner of the country.

Before starting off the gorilla trek, they were briefed by a local tour guide about what the dos and donts of the tour. “Now we are going for a trek to see the gorillas in a forest where we are likely to meet elephants as well, but don’t worry we shall be fine,” said the tour guide.

The trackers had earlier traveled to the park on a chartered flight to Kisoro Airstrip and the trip was all paid for by the Uganda Tourism Board.

After the trek in the jungles, the players were delighted by meeting the mountain gorillas eye to eye in the wild. We saw three silverbacks (gorillas) face to face. It was both tense and funny! The walk was like training for the match, noted Rayco Garcia.

We saw three silverback gorillas.
