I visited Uganda a few years ago but it was a fully organised tour package – everything was organized for me including transportation and all the safari activities. However, this year I had a great opportunity to return to Uganda, a country that i can call a second home. This time round i decided to explore the city’s treasures on a Uganda self guided cultural tour. I booked my rental car with a Kampala based car hire company which is rated to hire good and comfortable 4×4 vehicles at a very friendly price. Coming to book with this company, I tried emailing many car rental companies until I booked with this one since their prices were a bit fair compared to other car hire companies. What I did, I went to the internet and wrote Uganda self drive and I was a given very many options about different car hire companies in Uganda from which I picked one.

Once I expressed my interest they went ahead to advise me about the best car I should use which could satisfy my desire and the safari destination, not only that but they also helped me in drafting for me the itinerary for my cultural safari to Uganda, they advised me about the best cultural sites I could visit which are so rewarding, I couldn’t wait to book with them. They recommend to me a 4×4 Toyota Rav at us$45 per day. This was the best price around because other companies were charging me more than this yet the services were to be the same.

On my arrival at Entebbe international airport, I was welcomed and greeted by a company guide who later transferred me to my booked accommodation in Kampala were I slept that very night. On the following day, my rented car was brought to me, really I appreciated it because it was well serviced and it was in good condition, I was so excited to travel around Kampala in my own car, driving at my own pace and stop at any interesting place, it was really a breathtaking moment. I knew some of the routes plus the road instructions and since I was briefed by a company guide I was very confident to drive around. I first visited the Ugandan Museum where I was fortunate to view different ancient objects which depict the history of Ugandan culture. I later went and visited the kasubi Tombs the burial place for 4 Buganda kings of Buganda I was fed with a lot informative information about the history of Buganda, I proceeded to the Bahai temple, Gadhafi Mosque, Kabaka’s palace before concluding the day with a breathtaking entertainment from the Ndere Troupe.

The following day I visited Lake Mburo national park where I spent two days, I enjoyed the game drive and a launch cruise, the activities was so rewarding with incredible variety of animal species including buffaloes, elephants, zebra, giraffes, various species of antelopes, among many other species, while the hippos and crocodiles was spotted during the 2 hours boat cruise on the lake Mburo. To be genuine, this was the best safari in my life. Am sure the flexibility and freedom I had in this trip must have been the driving force to its exceptionality. I had the freedom to do whatever I wanted and everything that I planned to do on the trip was accomplished.

From Lake Mburo I drove back to Kampala with stopovers at the equator and en-route lunch, arrived in time for my last shopping and later I drove to the airport where I handed over the car to the company driver, after I took a flight back home. I promise to book with the same car rental company during my return journey to Uganda on a self-drive. I therefore recommend all those that want to go for a Uganda self-drive safari to Use this company, contact them on info@4x4ugandacarhire.com
